Our popular Starbucks Lectures of Note series offers patrons the opportunity to learn about great music from the perspective of its creators and foremost interpreters.  This unforgettable season focuses on two themes that woven through the 2007-2008 Season, French and Russian music.

Jan. 29 – 7pm, stage

The Music of Russia: The Romantic Tradition

This year, our popular Lectures of Note series, moderated by ASO Insider Ken Meltzer, focuses on music with French and Russian themes.  The first lecture in “The Music of Russia” series features ASO Music Director Robert Spano and special guests discussing orchestral works and piano concertos by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff.

Feb. 26 – 7pm, stage

The Music of Russia: Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition—the Art and the Music

This year, our popular Lectures of Note series, moderated by ASO Insider Ken Meltzer, focuses on music with French and Russian themes.  The second lecture in “The Music of Russia” series features music and art historians discussing the genesis and reception of the colorful orchestral blockbuster, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

March 18 – 7pm, stage

              The Music of Russia: Pride or Defiance, Music under Soviet Rule

This year, our popular Lectures of Note series, moderated by ASO Insider Ken Meltzer, focuses on music with French and Russian themes.  The third lecture in “The Music of Russia” series explores the music of Shostakovich in the context of Soviet rule.



Reservation Procedures

ASO members ($50+) can attend the sessions for free. Non-members will pay $10
